Valheim World Statistics — What 704 Measured Worlds Look Like

How far Haldor sits from spawn, how big a start island gets, how much of a world is ocean, and how many Forsaken bosses are reachable on foot — measured across 704 generated Valheim 1.0 worlds.

Every number on this page was measured, not estimated. The same 1.0 world generator that draws the interactive map was run over 704 worlds from the seed library, and these are the distributions that came out of it.

Distributions are drawn from the 704 seeds in the library that carry worldgen measurements, out of 758 seeds in total. Each row prints the sample it was measured over.

Distance and size

The spread across every measured world — the shortest, the median world, and the outlier at the far end.

Measured Min Median 90th Max Worlds
Haldor 1,865 m 1,501 1,865 2,628 5,643 661
Spawn island area 12.7 km² 0.1 12.7 36.9 71.0 704
Ocean share 27% 23 27 28 30 704

How many bosses and traders you can walk to

“On foot” means reachable from the start island without building a boat — the same landmass as the spawn temple, wading the odd channel.

Walkable bosses

  • 1 bosses 163 worlds
  • 2 bosses 125 worlds
  • 3 bosses 133 worlds
  • 4 bosses 106 worlds
  • 5 bosses 113 worlds
  • 6 bosses 64 worlds

Walkable traders

  • 0 traders 119 worlds
  • 1 traders 84 worlds
  • 2 traders 180 worlds
  • 3 traders 321 worlds

How much of a world each biome covers

Every Valheim world contains all eight biomes. What changes between worlds is how much of the disc each one covers — and that spread is narrower than most seed lists imply.

Measured Min Median Max Worlds
Meadows 2% 3% 7% 704
Black Forest 12% 14% 19% 704
Swamp 2% 3% 4% 704
Mountain 3% 4% 5% 704
Plains 10% 15% 17% 704
Mistlands 16% 19% 21% 704
Deep North 5% 6% 7% 704

How many of each placed site a world holds

These are the structures the generator places the moment a world is born. Some kinds land in almost identical numbers in every world; only the kinds that genuinely separate worlds are listed.

How these were measured

Each seed was generated offline by the same worldgen reimplementation the interactive map runs in your browser, then measured: landmass connectivity decided which bosses and traders are reachable on foot from the spawn island, and a grid sample across the whole world disc produced the biome and ocean shares. Nothing here is hand-entered, and nothing is inferred from a smaller sample than the one printed beside it.

Valheim world statistics — frequently asked questions

How far is Haldor from spawn in an average Valheim world?
Read the Haldor row above: it gives the shortest, the median and the longest straight-line distance measured across the sample. The median is what a typical world looks like — and the gap between the median and the maximum is why “my trader is miles away” and “mine is a short walk” are both true.
Does every Valheim world contain every biome?
Yes — all eight, in every world. A seed never has a biome or lacks one, so a list promising “a seed with Mistlands” is promising nothing. What changes is the share of the disc each biome covers and how far you walk to reach it, which is what the biome table above measures.
How many bosses can you reach without building a boat?
It varies a lot, which is exactly why it is worth checking before you start. The histograms above show how the sample splits: some worlds put several Forsaken altars on the start landmass, others put almost none and expect you to sail.
Is my own world unusual?
Type its seed into the interactive map to get its numbers, then compare them against the median column here. Anything past the 90th percentile is a genuinely rare world — and anything near the median is a normal one, whatever it felt like while you were playing it.
