How the rankings are computed

Every seed in the library was generated offline by the same 1.0 worldgen the interactive map runs, then measured. A board only appears when the measurement actually separates worlds — a property that is identical in every world (every measured world places the same number of shipwrecks) is not a ranking, so it is not published.

Valheim seed leaderboards — frequently asked questions

Are these seeds hand-picked?
No. Every board is the library re-sorted by one measured number from the world generator, so adding seeds to the library re-ranks them automatically. Nothing on these pages is an editorial pick.
Why are there no boards for some location types?
Because those types land in the same numbers in essentially every world — the generator places the same count of them regardless of seed. Ranking worlds by a number that never changes would produce a board that looks like information and is not.
What does “closest Haldor” actually measure?
The straight-line distance in metres from the spawn temple to the Haldor camp the generator placed in that world, measured on the generated world. Straight-line, not walking distance — a channel can still be in the way, so check the map before planning a route.
Can I check my own seed against these?
Yes — type it into the interactive map. Every number on these boards comes from the same generator the map runs in your browser, so your seed reads exactly the same way.
