How to Beat Fader Solo — Heat, Lava and Why the Approach Is the Real Fight

Solo Fader in the Ashlands: 25000 HP at a coliseum found via the Vegvisir, 3 Bells to summon, and why the heat, lava and charred enemies matter more than the boss himself.

Verified (1.0): Fader is resistant to pierce and immune to fire, spirit and stagger (he cannot be staggered); blunt, slash, frost, lightning and poison all land at normal (x1). Solo he has 25,000 HP. See our verification workflow for how data gets confirmed here.

The solo loop

Fader’s solo fight is less a damage race and more a survival sequence:

  1. Get to the coliseum alive — fire-resistance mead active, a route that avoids the lava, and the charred enemies on the approach cleared or kited away.
  2. Summon only when topped up — the coliseum is indoors; once the Bells are rung there is no easy escape, so the fight starts fully buffed.
  3. Fight from range where you can — he cannot be staggered, so positioning and repositioning matter more than crowd control; keep your back off the lava edge and trade only where you can retreat.

The confirmed mechanics say everything: a boss that ignores stagger, in an indoor arena, in a biome that damages you on its own. That is why the approach and the buffing are the whole fight.

Solo, the frost phase is your trade window — take a swing while the ice is up, then reset before the element shifts back.

Why this differs from a group fight

In a group, one player can kite the charred enemies on the approach and another can soak the environment while the third focuses the boss. Solo, you are the route, the tank and the DPS at once:

  • The biome is the first boss — lava and heat with nobody to top you up means the approach is a full fight.
  • No stagger means no safety net — in a group, a teammate can buy time while you recover; solo, every hit you cannot stagger yourself from is real damage.
  • The Power is your endgame — the Fader Power’s 50% fire resistance and 100% Adrenaline gain are what make the rest of the Ashlands solo-able, so getting this kill is the gate, not a reward.

No teammate to call the beam wall for you — when the green light sweeps the arena, you break line of sight on your own and come back after the burst.

Frequently asked questions

What is Fader weak to solo?
Blunt, slash, frost, lightning and poison all deal normal (x1) damage. He is resistant to pierce and immune to fire, spirit and stagger, so a fire build is wasted on him. Bring your best-tier blunt or slash and save the fire damage for the environment, not the boss.
Why is the Ashlands approach harder than the fight?
Because the biome itself does damage: lava, heat and charred enemies kill an under-prepared player before Fader is even summoned. Solo there is no teammate to tank the charred enemies or keep your fire resistance topped up, so the route to the coliseum is the real difficulty check.
Do I need fire resistance to solo Fader?
Yes — for the environment as much as the boss. The Ashlands' heat and lava damage you continuously, and Fader's own Power grants 50% fire resistance, a hint at the fire the arena runs on. A fire-resistance mead active before you summon is mandatory solo.
How long does Fader take solo?
He has 25,000 HP in a solo fight, and the coliseum is indoors so there is no easy reset — with the right gear tier, a fire-resistance mead and good lava discipline, expect a long, grinding fight on top of the approach. The single most common solo mistake is arriving under-geared from the Mistlands; fixing that cuts the fight in half.
