Valheim Plus on 1.0 — Install & Configuration Basics
What Valheim Plus is on 1.0, the Grantapher fork that maintains it, and the standalone plugins that replaced most of its features — plus the crossplay caveat that applies to all of it.
By Valheim Field Guide Editorial Team
Valheim Plus was the all-in-one mod most players reached for: a single configurable package that bundled the shared map, stamina and inventory tweaks, and build-camera improvements. It had millions of downloads and was recommended by nearly every early-access modding guide.
Status on 1.0: the original ValheimPlus package is deprecated and has not been maintained for 1.0. The maintained successor is the Grantapher fork (ValheimPlus_Grantapher_Temporary), which published a 1.0-compatible release in September 2026.
Honesty note (what we have and have not verified): the fork’s 1.0 compatibility has received mixed early reports. We have confirmed the package exists and its 1.0 release, but we have not yet re-verified the exact install steps and the default configuration file on a fresh 1.0 world. The steps below are the general flow; treat the package-specific details as to be re-verified rather than a tested walkthrough.
How it is installed (general flow)
Valheim Plus is a BepInEx plugin — it does not run on its own. You first set up the loader and a mod manager (see BepInEx setup), then add the package through your mod manager. The flow is:
- Install the BepInEx pack for Valheim through a mod manager (r2modman or Gale) — the manager resolves the
denikson/BepInExPack_Valheimdependency automatically. - Add the Valheim Plus package to your mod list and start the game with the manager enabled.
- Open the in-game Valheim Plus menu to configure individual features (the bundled settings are grouped per feature: map, inventory, build camera, etc.).
Each feature can be toggled on or off independently, which is why it was popular — one package, many switches.
The bigger trend: most of it now exists as standalone plugins
The direction the ecosystem has moved away from one giant package is the more important takeaway for a returning player. Nearly every feature Valheim Plus offered now exists as an individually maintained BepInEx plugin, which tends to update within days of a Valheim patch. Well-known standalone replacements:
- Inventory and slots: ExtraSlots (shudnal)
- Crafting from nearby chests: Craft From Containers
- Building camera and snap: Gizmo (ComfyMods) + PlanBuild (MathiasDecrock)
- Plant anything: PlantEverything (Advize)
For most players in 2026, picking the standalone plugins you actually want is the lower-maintenance path over a single bundled package — but check each mod’s Thunderstore page for its current version and 1.0 / Deep North compatibility, because package names and authors have shifted between versions.
The crossplay caveat (applies to all of it)
Valheim Plus — like every BepInEx mod — does not work with crossplay enabled. Crossplay and mods are mutually exclusive (see the crossplay tradeoff). If your group includes console players, the modded session stays PC-only. If you just want the quality-of-life features and everyone is on Steam, disable crossplay and run the mods.
Before you install any mod, check whether it is client-side only or server-side — the answer changes how you set up a group session (see server-side vs client-side mods).
